These are trying times and we need spaces to truth tell, grieve, learn, heal and build skills. We offer this workshop in the spirit of sharing collective space to wade through what arises when we speak truth from our social location or embodied racial identities.

In this course we will:

  • Define white supremacy and explore how it works in collusion with other forms of oppression

  • Explore how power works in culture and systems

  • Locate ourselves in proximity to power and privilege

race-based Caucusing

It is important for people of color and white people to have space to process how they experience the white supremacy culture. Kerri Kelly and Michelle Johnson will create virtual space for people of color to explore internalized oppression and to create space for healing and for white folks to explore internalized white superiority and to begin to acknowledge the power of cultural conditioning. We will provide two separate spaces for caucusing.

Equity Vs. Equality

To create racially equitable spaces, we need a shared understanding of how we got here so that we can determine the best strategies for healing and reparations. In this community of practice, we will

    1. Learn the history of race construct and its impact on our culture and systems

    2. Define and explore models of equity, equality, justice, liberation

    3. Explore equity practices (relational) and policies (institutional) towards reparations and liberation.

Repair/Harm Reduction

To truly be accountable in creating change across difference it is imperative that we have models or repair. In this Master Class we will explore how to acknowledge harm and systems of repair. We will differentiate between remorse and repair, compassion and empathy and discuss conditions that need to be in place for repair to occur.

Harm Reduction and repair Part 2

We had such a good turnout for Harm Reduction and Repair in September we decided to offer at Part 2. In this Master Class we will explore how to acknowledge harm and systems of repair. We will make room for questions about how to create conditions for repair. To truly be accountable in creating change across difference it is imperative that we have models or repair.
